FOGGS

Jacksonville, Florida

Riverside Womens Club in Jacksonville, Fl. 1966

The Foggs were a high school rock band from Jacksonville, Florida in 1964--1967. The members of the band were: Eddie Pierce, vocals and guitar; Bruce Wildstein, lead guitar; Bill Calcagni rhythm guitar and Farfisa keyboard; Scott Stanley bass; Ken Talbert drums.

Wayne Haslett later replaced Ken Talbert on the drums.

The Foggs got their break in 1964 when a Jacksonville promoter booked them to be the opening act on a show with the Newbeats ( Newbeats) in Tallahassee, Florida. The Newbeats, one of whom was from Hahira, Ga., were riding high with their hit record "Bread and Butter". After the show an FSU law student named Dutch Powers asked the band if he could be their booking agent and the band agreed.

Over the next two years Dutch booked the band at dozens of fraternity and sorority parties at FSU. The band also played at national guard armories (a common venue in the day), women's clubs, and dance clubs in many North Florida cities such as Jacksonville, Ocala, Deland, Panama City, Chipley, and Daytona Beach.

One highlight was when the Foggs were the opening act on a show at the Southside Women's Club, a real hotspot for dances in Jacksonville, with the Illusions and Question Mark & The Mysterians who had the megahit "96 tears".

For the last six months of the band's career they changed the name to the Southern Delegation. The band broke up when most of the members graduated high school and went their separate ways.
