Preston, Eddie (standing), Gary, and Russell
Twins Preston (guitar) and Russell (bass) Gilbert teamed up with Jimmy Pittman (guitar) and Eddie Hilbrant to form The Emotions. In 1965, Forrest High student Gary Goddard replaced Jimmy on guitar. Preston and Russell went to Lee, but transferred to Fletcher at the beginning of senior year in the fall of 1965. Preston said he and Russell were suspended their first day of senior year at Lee for their long hair so transferred to Fletcher. Had to get a haircut there too as there was no sanctuary in Duval County Schools for hair that touched collar, eyebrows, and/or ears. Joe Kremp replaced Eddie on drums sometime in 1966.
