Percy Sledge Dead At 74

Famous for the great song "When A Man Loves A Woman", Percy Sledge has died at the age of 74. This was his first single and it made it into the Top 10 twice in Great Britain and was number one on the Billboard chart in the US for two weeks in 1966.

Percy worked in the cotton fields near his hometown of Leighton, Alabama before getting a job as a nurse in a hospital in the early 60's. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.  He is also a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
